Ingredients

  1. 1 lb cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)
  2. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  3. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 1/2 cup heavy cream
  5. 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  6. Salt and black pepper, to taste
  7. 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional, for extra flavor)
  8. 2 tablespoons fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  9. Additional Parmesan cheese, for serving

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  1. Large pot
  2. Skillet
  3. Measuring cups and spoons
  4. Spatula or spoon

Steps

  1. Cook the Tortellini: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cheese tortellini and cook according to package instructions (usually 3-5 minutes for fresh, or 8-10 minutes for frozen) until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant. Stir in the heavy cream, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  3. Add the Cheese and Seasoning: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using). Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  4. Combine with Tortellini: Add the cooked tortellini to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly with the sauce.
  5. Serve: Transfer the cheese tortellini to serving plates. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and additional Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately.
