Ingredients

  1. 1 lb chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  2. 1/2 cup cornstarch
  3. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  4. 1 tsp baking powder
  5. 1/2 tsp salt
  6. 1/2 tsp black pepper
  7. 1/2 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  8. 2 tbsp soy sauce
  9. 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  10. 2 tbsp honey
  11. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  12. 1 tsp sesame oil
  13. Vegetable oil for frying
  14. Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Steps

  1. Prepare Coating: In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss the chicken wings in the mixture until evenly coated.
  2. Fry Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the coated chicken wings in batches for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Make Sauce: In another mixing bowl, whisk together gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, and sesame oil until smooth.
  4. Toss and Serve: Toss the fried chicken wings in the spicy sauce until evenly coated. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
