Ingredients
- 1 spiral-cut ham (6-8 lbs), trimmed of excess fat
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- 6-8 quart slow cooker
- Medium mixing bowl
- Whisk
- Basting brush
- Meat thermometer
- Sharp carving knife
- Cutting board
- Measuring cups and spoons
Steps
- Prepare the Ham: Place the spiral-cut ham in your slow cooker, cut side down. If the ham is too large, trim it to fit or use a larger slow cooker. Score the surface in a diamond pattern if desired.
- Make the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, cinnamon, cloves, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth.
- Add Liquid and Glaze: Pour pineapple juice around the ham in the slow cooker. Brush half of the glaze mixture over the entire surface of the ham, getting between the spiral cuts.
- Slow Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours (about 15-20 minutes per pound) until the internal temperature reaches 140°F. Baste with remaining glaze every 2 hours.
- Final Glaze: During the last 30 minutes, brush with any remaining glaze. If desired, mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cooking liquid and stir back into slow cooker to thicken the glaze.
- Rest and Serve: Remove ham from slow cooker and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Strain the cooking liquid and serve as a sauce alongside the ham. Garnish with pineapple slices, cherries, and rosemary if desired.
