Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Baking sheet
- Mixing bowl
- Pastry brush
- Aluminum foil (optional)
Steps
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the garlic butter: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
- Slice the bread: Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. If you prefer, you can slice it into individual pieces, leaving the bottom crust intact to keep the loaf together.
- Spread the garlic butter: Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake: Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up. If you prefer a softer garlic bread, wrap the loaf in aluminum foil. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the butter is melted and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
- Optional broil: If you prefer a crispier garlic bread, after baking, place the bread under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until the top is golden and slightly crispy. Watch closely to prevent burning.
- Serve: Remove the garlic bread from the oven, slice it into individual pieces if you haven’t already, and serve warm. It’s perfect as a side dish for pasta, soups, or salads.
