Ingredients

  1. 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread
  2. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  3. 4 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  5. 1/4 tsp salt
  6. 1/4 tsp black pepper
  7. 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  1. Baking sheet
  2. Mixing bowl
  3. Pastry brush
  4. Aluminum foil (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the garlic butter: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Slice the bread: Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. If you prefer, you can slice it into individual pieces, leaving the bottom crust intact to keep the loaf together.
  4. Spread the garlic butter: Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake: Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up. If you prefer a softer garlic bread, wrap the loaf in aluminum foil. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the butter is melted and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  6. Optional broil: If you prefer a crispier garlic bread, after baking, place the bread under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until the top is golden and slightly crispy. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  7. Serve: Remove the garlic bread from the oven, slice it into individual pieces if you haven’t already, and serve warm. It’s perfect as a side dish for pasta, soups, or salads.
