Ingredients

  1. 1 small head green cabbage, shredded (about 6 cups)
  2. 1 large carrot, peeled and grated
  3. 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  4. 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  5. 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  6. 2 teaspoons sugar
  7. 1/2 teaspoon celery seed (optional)
  8. Salt and pepper, to taste

  5. Knife and cutting board

Steps

  1. Prepare the Vegetables: Shred the cabbage and grate the carrot. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Make the Dressing: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, sugar, celery seed (if using), salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  3. Toss the Salad: Pour the dressing over the shredded cabbage and grated carrot. Toss everything together until the vegetables are well coated with the dressing.
  4. Chill and Serve: Cover the coleslaw and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together. Serve cold as a side dish.
