Ingredients
- For the Beef:
- 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for stir-frying)
- For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 cup water or beef broth
- For the Noodles and Vegetables:
- 8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup snow peas or sugar snap peas
- 3 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Large pot (for boiling noodles)
- Large skillet or wok (for stir-frying)
- Tongs or spatula
- Small mixing bowl (for the sauce)
Steps
- Marinate the Beef: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce and cornstarch. Toss the thinly sliced beef in the mixture and let it marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- Make the Sauce: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, and water (or beef broth). Set aside.
- Cook the Noodles: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside. Toss the cooked noodles with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking.
- Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add the minced garlic and ginger, stir-frying for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the bell pepper, carrot, broccoli, and snow peas. Stir-fry the vegetables for 3-4 minutes until they are tender but still crisp.
- Combine the Ingredients: Add the cooked beef back to the pan, along with the cooked noodles. Pour the prepared sauce over everything and toss to combine. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until everything is heated through and coated in the sauce.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve hot, straight from the pan, and enjoy!
