Ingredients
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Medium saucepan
- Wooden spoon
- Measuring cups
- Knife and cutting board
Steps
- Sauté the onion and garlic: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing for 3-4 minutes until softened and fragrant.
- Add the rice: Stir in the rice, coating it with the butter and onion mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the rice is lightly toasted.
- Cook the rice: Pour in the broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
- Add herbs and serve: Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped parsley and dill. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve warm.
