Ingredients

  1. 1 large round sourdough bread loaf (or Italian bread)
  2. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  3. 4 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  5. 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  6. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  7. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  8. 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  9. 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  10. 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  11. 2 green onions, finely chopped (optional)

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  1. Sharp serrated knife
  2. Large mixing bowl
  3. Baking sheet
  4. Parchment paper or aluminum foil
  5. Pastry brush (optional)
  6. Measuring cups and spoons

Steps

  1. Prepare the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Cut the Bread: Using a sharp serrated knife, cut the bread in a crosshatch pattern, making cuts about 1 inch apart in both directions. Cut down to about 1/2 inch from the bottom, being careful not to slice all the way through.
  3. Make Garlic Butter: In a bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Stuff with Cheese: Gently separate the bread pieces and brush the garlic butter mixture into all the cuts. Stuff the cuts with mozzarella and cheddar cheese, reserving some for the top.
  5. Wrap and Bake: Wrap the bread loosely in the foil, leaving the top partially open. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining cheese and Parmesan on top, and bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
  6. Finish & Serve: Remove from oven and sprinkle with green onions if using. Serve immediately while warm and gooey.
