Ingredients
- 1 large round sourdough bread loaf (or Italian bread)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 green onions, finely chopped (optional)
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Sharp serrated knife
- Large mixing bowl
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper or aluminum foil
- Pastry brush (optional)
- Measuring cups and spoons
Steps
- Prepare the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- Cut the Bread: Using a sharp serrated knife, cut the bread in a crosshatch pattern, making cuts about 1 inch apart in both directions. Cut down to about 1/2 inch from the bottom, being careful not to slice all the way through.
- Make Garlic Butter: In a bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Stuff with Cheese: Gently separate the bread pieces and brush the garlic butter mixture into all the cuts. Stuff the cuts with mozzarella and cheddar cheese, reserving some for the top.
- Wrap and Bake: Wrap the bread loosely in the foil, leaving the top partially open. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining cheese and Parmesan on top, and bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
- Finish & Serve: Remove from oven and sprinkle with green onions if using. Serve immediately while warm and gooey.
