Ingredients

  1. 1 spiral-cut ham (6-8 lbs), trimmed of excess fat
  2. 1 cup packed brown sugar
  3. 1/2 cup honey
  4. 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  5. 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  6. 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  7. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  8. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  9. 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  10. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  11. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  12. 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  13. 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  1. 6-8 quart slow cooker
  2. Medium mixing bowl
  3. Whisk
  4. Basting brush
  5. Meat thermometer
  6. Sharp carving knife
  7. Cutting board
  8. Measuring cups and spoons

Steps

  1. Prepare the Ham: Place the spiral-cut ham in your slow cooker, cut side down. If the ham is too large, trim it to fit or use a larger slow cooker. Score the surface in a diamond pattern if desired.
  2. Make the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, cinnamon, cloves, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Add Liquid and Glaze: Pour pineapple juice around the ham in the slow cooker. Brush half of the glaze mixture over the entire surface of the ham, getting between the spiral cuts.
  4. Slow Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours (about 15-20 minutes per pound) until the internal temperature reaches 140°F. Baste with remaining glaze every 2 hours.
  5. Final Glaze: During the last 30 minutes, brush with any remaining glaze. If desired, mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cooking liquid and stir back into slow cooker to thicken the glaze.
  6. Rest and Serve: Remove ham from slow cooker and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Strain the cooking liquid and serve as a sauce alongside the ham. Garnish with pineapple slices, cherries, and rosemary if desired.
